Project:
Our team took complete ownership of the client’s Quality Engineering process, overseeing over 4,000 manual test cases and more than 1,500 UI automation test cases.
Challenges:
The client’s existing UI automation test suite was unstable and inefficient. A previous vendor had implemented the Test Sigma tool to rewrite automation scripts, extend coverage to mobile platforms, and incorporate analytics testing. However, these tests remained fragile and slow, allowing defects to slip into production. Our primary objective was to stabilize the automation framework, expand the test coverage, and eliminate production defects.
Solutions:
We began with a comprehensive analysis of the test artifacts and client requirements, and addressed key pain points through the following actions:
- Stabilized and Enhanced Automation: Repaired existing test cases and increased the overall count from 1,500 to over 2,500.
- Customer-First Approach: Acknowledging the client’s prior investment in Selenium, we proposed extending their existing scripts to support mobile web testing through Appium integration.
- Risk-Based Manual Testing: Prioritized manual test efforts based on business-critical functionalities, ensuring high-risk areas were thoroughly validated.
Results:
Our strategic interventions and automation enhancements delivered measurable improvements:
- Zero Critical Defects: No critical issues were reported post-deployment.
- Significant ROI: Achieved an estimated return on investment of $700K over five years.
- Cost Optimization: Reduced QA costs through test automation, stability, and efficiency gains.
