1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how United Techno Info Systems (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use our Jira app (“QA Genie”), which is distributed through the Atlassian Marketplace. We are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy and complying with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and Australian Privacy Act.

By installing or using the app, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not install or use the app.

 

2. Hosting and Infrastructure

Our app is built using the Atlassian Forge SDK and runs entirely on Atlassian’s Forge-hosted infrastructure.

  • All authentication and permissions are managed by Atlassian.
  • Jira REST API calls are made using Forge-provided authentication scopes.
  • Data remains within Atlassian’s cloud unless explicitly processed by an external service (see Section 4).

 

3. Information We Collect

When you use the app, we may process the following information provided by Jira via Forge APIs:

From Jira (via Atlassian APIs):

  • User account ID and display name
  • Issue data (summaries, descriptions, comments, custom fields, etc.)
  • Project metadata relevant to the app’s functionality

Technical Information (Forge-managed):

  • Forge request metadata (function execution logs, error traces)
  • Atlassian account identifiers for access control

User-Submitted Content:

  • Text or data you choose to send to the AI feature

API Calls via Forge Resolver:

  • Our app accesses Jira data only using Atlassian’s Forge-provided methods:
    • await api.asApp().requestJira(‘jira REST API endpoint’) — calls made as the app, using app-level permissions defined in the manifest file
    • await api.asUser().requestJira(‘jira REST API endpoint’) — calls made as the currently logged-in user, respecting their Jira permissions
  • These calls are handled entirely within Atlassian’s secure infrastructure. We do not store Jira credentials or bypass Atlassian authentication.

Current Access Scope
 Once installed in your Jira Cloud instance, the app is automatically available across all Jira projects in that instance by default. At this time, the app does not include configuration options to restrict usage to specific projects.

  • Access Control: While the app is visible in all projects, Jira’s native user permissions still apply. Users without the appropriate Jira permissions will not be able to view or interact with restricted issues or project data via the app.
  • Future Enhancements: The vendor intends to add project-level configuration options in a future release, allowing Jira Administrators to limit the app’s availability to selected projects.

 

4. Use of OpenAI API (External Service)

Our AI-powered features send relevant user-provided text to the OpenAI API for processing.

  • Data is transmitted securely via HTTPS/TLS.
  • OpenAI processes this data solely to generate the requested output and does not use it for training in a way that identifies you, according to their Enterprise Privacy Policy.
  • We do not transmit Jira credentials or Atlassian account details to OpenAI.

 

5. Data Storage and Retention

  • Primary data storage is handled by Atlassian within Forge’s infrastructure.
  • Temporary AI processing data is sent to OpenAI (U.S.-based) and is not stored after processing.
  • We do not store customer data on external servers unless explicitly required for debugging and approved by the customer.

 

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only:

  • With OpenAI (for AI feature requests)
  • With Atlassian (via standard Forge platform operations)
  • If required by law

 

7. Security Measures

We follow Atlassian Marketplace Security Requirements:

  • Forge hosting ensures data isolation and compliance with Atlassian’s cloud security
  • TLS encryption for all data in transit
  • Strict permission scopes for Jira API access
  • Role-based access control for any support or debugging access

 

8. Data Subject Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

You have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data
  • Restrict processing of your data
  • Request data portability
  • Withdraw consent

9. Children’s Privacy

The app is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

 

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on our Atlassian Marketplace listing with a revised “Last Updated” date.
